More about the Skypark and a chocolate crepe @ Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

On the other side of the Skypark, we can see the Singapore Flyer (plus the F1 race track). Hopefully I have the chance to catch the race this year. Hm, time to psych my bro to accompany me. =P

Singapore Flyer

I did wonder if it’s possible to fall down if you swim too close to the edge. Well, now I have the answer. There’s a safety railing + area in case that really happens. XD

Marina Bay Sands Infinity Pool

After I was done with the tour of Skypark, I met my friend in the Marina Bay Sands the Shoppes to have a meal. This time we chose to go to Au Chocolat simply because the place looks interesting (plus no queue at that time, around 5-ish).

Au Chocolat Marina Bay Sands

The restaurant is designed like some kind of Chocolate factory with the rail track on the roof.

Here comes the train, choo choo!

Mushroom bites. The red pot looks so cute.

Au Chocolat Crepes. Yum Yum Yum.

Au Chocolat Crepes

Au Chocolat is located at 4th floor of the Marina Bay Sands the Shoppes. It’s on the food court section of the mall. So once you have found the food court/ ice rink, you can just go up via the elevator to the 4th floor. =)

The view from the Skypark @ Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Two years since its grand opening, I finally got the chance to visit the Skypark of Marina Bay Sands. What took me so long? Well, it simply because I did not want to spend money to go up. My aunt happened to stay here this time and she invited me to go up. Yeay!

Marina Bay Sands Rooftop

Initially, public can go up for a limited time (I forgot how long) for S$20. But due to a lot of complaints from the hotel customers, this policy has been stopped. Nowadays, only hotel customers (and dining parties) can go up to the Skypark.

Infinity edge swimming pool at Marina Bay Sands

You can get an amazing view from the Skypark. Especially the view of Raffles Place. Not that I really like the place or anything (it’s associated with WORK, WORK, WORK! Arrghh!). Well, I admit it still looks good from above. XD.

Garden by the Bay from above. It is pretty big, huh?

OCBC trees from above. I suppose at night, you can watch the light show from here too (with the help from zoom function). =P

Marina Barrage from above. I never go to Marina Barrage simply because it’s kinda far and I don’t really have anything to do there. I heard a lot of people simply go there to take a walk or fly kites.

Marina Barrage

There is Ku De Ta at the Skypark, so if you want to enjoy the view + drinking alcohol, it’s probably the place you want to go. Be prepared to pay the price though. It’s totally not cheap (Then again, nothing is really cheap in Singapore).

A date at Robertson Quay @ Singapore

I had not seen my friend for ages and finally, we had time to meet up and we decided to ditch the usual location (i.e. Orchard) and went to somewhere different. A few steps from Clarke Quay and welcome to Robertson Quay.

This place looks kinda European-ish. The building behind is either a posh condo or a hotel. Most likely a condo.

Robertson Walk

Feeling kinda jealous of those who can afford the place. Property price in Singapore is super high. Not sure how many years I have to work to afford living in a place like this. *sad reality*

Robertson Quay

Okay, by the time I took this picture, my friend and I had started imagining our lives here. XD. There are a lot of people jogging, chit-chatting, playing with kids/ dogs in this area. I guess it’s one of those areas where you can just relax and do whatever you enjoy doing.

3-DSC02000

And for us, the thing that we enjoyed the most is filling our tummy. Yum Yum! My friend has made reservation at Bella Pizza. All I had to do is to follow her and sit. XD.

Bella Pizza at Robertson Quay

Fettuccine (which changed into spaghetti) Con Salsiccia E Tartufo – Homemade pasta with Italian sausage and truffles in a touch of cream. Fancy name but the taste is rather bland.

Pasta at Bella Pizza

So we requested for some condiments. But they don’t have chili sauce. Aaaaa~~~~O_o!

Condiments at Bella Pizza

Pizza Bella Pizza – Pizza with mozzarella, ricotta, salami and sautéed spinach. It tastes so-so too.

Pizza Bella Pizza

I wonder if our tongues are used to MSG way too much? I really hope not. >.<!

If you want to go to Robertson Quay, you can check out the direction by keying in “Robertson Quay” in this link - http://www.onemap.sg/index.html.

As usual the easiest way to reach Robertson Quay is by taking a cab, so if you have 4 people, it will be cheap to share a cab from Clarke Quay. =)

Let’s play with Lego @ The Art of the Brick, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

If you are born in the late 80s like me, chances are you have played with Lego before. (Well actually current young generation still have Lego to play with. XD). The thing is, when I was small, I did not have the imagination to use Lego to build something as amazing as this…

Art of the Brick exhibition

So what’s going on with Lego brick? The Art of the Brick is an exhibition currently held at The ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. New York-based artist Nathan Sawaya is the one behind these awesome arts made from Lego bricks.

When I looked at these for the first time, I thought only the painting is made from the brick. Turns out the table, the desk, and even the fruits are made from the bricks. Crazy!!!

3-DSC02521

You can interact with the bricks too. Make sure you don’t accidentally “break” it though. LOL.

2-DSC02519

Even the painting is made entirely from the brick (yes! including the frame).

Painting at Art of the Bricks

Hey, little man, what are you looking at?

5-DSC02539

Awesome recreation of Parthenon.

Parthenon from the bricks

The iconic statue, Yellow. I suppose this piece of art took the artist the longest hours to work. I could even figure out how to make sure the thing did not break into pieces during the building process.

Yellow at the Art of the Bricks

If you are interested to see the exhibition, you better come fast because the exhibition is only extended up to 26 May 2013. The complete price listing can be found in this link: http://www.marinabaysands.com/Singapore-Museum/Ticketing/.

Plastic surgery and pork BBQ @ Apgujeong/ Myeongdong, Seoul

One thing that the Korean is known for is…its affinity to cosmetic surgery. Double eyelid, jaw reduction, or whatever you name it, they have done them all. And it’s no wonder that you can easily spot a plastic surgery clinic on the road.

Apgujeong Area

Once we passed the alley (which is full with plastic surgery centers), we continued our trip by to the posh area in Seoul, Apgujeong. It took us a while to find the place. And there is no tourist information center in Apgujeong, which means, we definitely got lost.

If you want to save time and energy, I suggest you take a cab.

7-DSC02606

There are a lot of boutiques, pubs and cafes in this area. If you prefer to shop in a big department store, Galleria Department Store is just across the area.

Rodeo Drive Apgujeong

Since we don’t feel like splurging in Apgujeong, we decided to come back to Myeong-dong and tried another BBQ place. This time, we opted for pork meat.

Yummy yummy pork put on the grill….=)

Myeong-dong pork bbq

The set came with a bowl of coal rice.

5-DSC02614

And a number of side dishes. Yumm. I totally gained weight during the trip.

1-DSC02609

Information:

- To reach Apgujeong shopping area, you can take the subway to Apgujeong Station and go to exit 2 or 3. Walk straight for a while to the Galleria Department Store direction and you will see the shopping area opposite the mall.

- The pork BBQ is located along the stretch behind Sejong Hotel at Myeong-dong. I prefer the beef BBQ we ate previously though.

Modern Teddy @ Teddy Bear Museum, Namsan Seoul Tower, South Korea

And now we are at the modern era of Seoul. First off is Dongdaemun.

Teddy Bear at Dongdaemun

Insadong area. Can spot the symbol of Ssamziegil there.

Teddy Bear at Insadong

Teddy Bears too can have its own cooking show. XD

Teddy Bear at Nanta

The teddy bears from Goong drama. Aawwww…<3

Goong Teddy Bear

There are so many teddy bears in the museum. Which means you can spend a lot of time here taking pictures of the cute teddy bears. =)

Once we are done taking pictures with the bears, we left the Namsan Seoul Tower by easier way compared to how we reached the tower in the first place. Yes, there is a lift to carry you up there to the cable car station. Bummer, why we did not find this lift when we came earlier. Oh well.

3-DSC02590

There is an eagle statue just in front of the lift.

2-DSC02588

And Myeong-dong Cathedral can be spotted nearby. So if you want to find the lift, you can follow the direction to the cathedral and walk a bit further until you see the eagle statue.

Myeong-dong Cathedral

Buhbyeee bears, I will visit your brothers and sisters at Jeju Island the next time I come to Korea. =)

Teddy Bear Museum @ Namsan Seoul Tower, South Korea

At the entrance to Namsan Seoul Tower Observation Deck, you will see two cute bears in front of the information. They are there for a reason. Not just a simply decoration.

3-DSC02435

Yes! There is a Teddy Bear Museum here inside Namsan Seoul Tower. There are three Teddy Bear Museums in South Korea, one is here while the other two are located at Jeju Island and Paju Heyri respectively. I seldom heard people visiting the one at Paju Heyri though. Probably it’s due to the location.

Teddy Bear Museum Namsan

Welcome to the world of Teddy Bears. =)
